Preeclampsia May Lead to Future Health Issues

Preeclampsia is a complication of pregnancy that’s linked to life-threatening cardiovascular disease. Because pre-eclampsia refers to a set of symptoms rather than any causative factor, it is established that there are many different causes. Women who experience preeclampsia during pregnancy are at increased risk for future health problems such as hypertension, diabetes and blood clots, American and Danish researchers report.

Rihanna beating picture released by TMZ.com

TMZ released what appears to be the real picture of Rihanna's beating. All pictures released before today are definitely fake.

The above photo was obtained by celebrity site TMZ and it apparently reveals R&B star Rihanna's facial injuries that were allegedly inflicted by Chris Brown, during an altercation earlier this month.

While the photo has not been proven or disproven, it would seem to support previous reports from TMZ and "E!" regarding "serious" swelling on both sides of Rihanna's face, as well as a split lip and swelling over her right eye.

TMZ had also reported that Rihanna had a bloody nose, which was not present in this photo, although it's possible that it may have stopped before the photo was taken. No word on exactly where TMZ got the pic, although it's speculated it may be from a police field photo that was taken after the assault to document the incident.

Giant Borneo Snake: Real or Fake?

An aerial photograph that appears to show a gigantic snake swimming along the remote waterway has emerged, sparking great concern among local communities.

But it is not clear whether the photograph is genuine, or a clever piece of photo-editing. Some suggested the 'snake' was in fact a log or a speed boat and others complained the colour of the river in the photo was too dark.

The most common theory is that the photo has been manipulated on a computer.

The image has even stumped the New Straits Times newspaper in Kuala Lumpur, which suggested readers decide for themselves.

However, on the banks of the river, villagers are convinced of the massive serpent's existence and have even given it a name, Nabau, after an ancient sea serpent which can transform itself into the shapes of different animals.

Earlier this month scientists unearthed the fossil of a snake that was longer than a bus, as heavy as a small car and which could swallow an animal the size of a cow.

The 45ft long monster - named Titanoboa - was so big that it lived on a diet of crocodiles and giant turtles, squeezing them to death and devouring them whole.

So, what do you think? Is this real or fake?

Crying Dolphins stuck in Ice for 3 days (so far)

Four dolphins have been trapped behind drifting pack ice for several days and need rapid rescue. A massive block of ice has trapped dolphins near Newfoundland. They have been stuck for about five days and experts are concerned that they may be in danger. In fact, new reports coming in, are speculating that 2 of the dolphins may be dead.

Wayne Ledwell, who was in Seal Cove to monitor the four trapped dolphins, said he could confirm that at least one of them was still alive late in the day.

But two other dolphins did not reappear above water for over an hour and he said it's unlikely they would have survived the heaving packs of ice in White Bay, on the west coast of the Baie Verte Peninsula.

"Those animals are not strong enough to move through it," Ledwell said in an interview.

UPDATE:

The ice has now moved off, but it was probably too late.

When fisheries officers first arrived they could hear the dolphins crying. Now - only silence. Fisheries Officer Linda Davis-Kettle: “We called the marine mammal assistance program and because of the nature and shallowness of the water, they couldn’t send anybody or do anything in breaking the ice up to create a path out.” They say it’s doubtful the ice cleared in time to save any of the dolphins.

New York Post ‘Accused’ of Linking Dead Monkey/Chimp To President Obama

Has The New York Post newspaper sunk to an all-time low, by referencing President Barack Obama to a Monkey (Chimp) or is this merely just a case of misunderstood innocent advertising?

Al Sharpton -- and other black opinion makers like CNN's Roland Martin -- blasted the cartoon as an attack on Obama's skin color and as a racial reference to African-Americans. The cartoon, published on Wednesday, appeared to compare President Barack Obama to a violent chimpanzee.

The New York Post has denied these allegations and refuse to apologize.

So, what do you think?
